I have this ability to remember each and every one of my dreams. Call it a curse or call it a blessing. And it’s not like I just remember bits and pieces of the dreams – I remember every little detail. For as long as I can remember my dreams have been vivid, detailed and easy to remember. I find myself asking The Beard each week about his dreams but he never remembers them. To me this is simply insane, because who doesn’t remember their dreams. According to this link I found, 95-99% of people forget their dreams. It’s also thought that those that remember their dreams probably have a sleep pattern which puts too much time between their last REM and their awakening moment. Not sure how accurate this all is, but I will take it as the truth (unless you can prove otherwise).
Why this post about dreams? Well, I had a very vivid dream last night, that I told to The Beard this morning then we interpreted what it meant. Let’s back up a little and I will give the story of what I dreamt about.
I was in the car, driving, with my friend Annie, and we were on our way to visit someone we use to work with. After vising the new house this girl had moved into, we started to leave, obviously. Walking out to the driveway there was a strange man that was standing by my car. I had to do one of those awkward moves to get around him and get to my car door. As I closed my door her tried to grab the door handle at which point I hit the button to lock the doors. We started to panick and I speed out of the driveway and down the road. Instantly the creepy guy is speeding past us on a motorcycle and keeps brake checking me, to the point where I almost hit him. He is suddenly behind us and we are on a high speed chase around town (which is not the town or city I live in). We safely make it to this outdoor tennis complex that is about 20 tennis courts wide and long. I find out that it’s my wedding reception. I rush to throw my dress on and join the festivities on the courts. It’s this huge production that is being televized and hosted by Donny and Marie Osmond. They cut to a commercial break and I see, sitting at the bridal party table, the creep that was following us. I run over to him and grab him by the skin of the neck (like a cat) and drag him away and start yelling at him and asking him a million questions. I demand to see his ID and it reads “Ricardo Ramirez” and he is 17 years old. He explains that he has been following me for some time and is fascinated with my life and knows that I can help him. Then, water starts to slowly fill the tennis court area and we all run for higher ground. Ricardo Ramirez follows behind me as The Beard runs for the bar. I do everything I can to get him to leave me alone. He finally does once my dad shows up saying that we all must swim for safety. Ricardo Ramirez ditches me saying that he can’t swim. He leaps off the deck, onto dry land, and runs away. I then swim to safety to be told I have to get ready and I go into total break down mode saying “I didn’t get my hair or makeup done! I don’t have grandma’s pearls on or Aunt Pam’s ring and I look like a shitty mess!” Then I wake up…
Are you still with me after that crazy dream story? If so, good! If not, I’m sorry! My dreams are crazy sometimes. So what does this all mean?
First off, The Beard pointed out, that Ricardo Ramirez was the “Night Stalker”. Well that’s good to know I’m dreaming about a murderer I never knew existed. After doing my own search, I found that Ricardo Ramirez is also an American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church – first bishop of Las Cruces and now Bishop Emeritus of that dicoese. Maybe I’m preditcing the new Pope?
Into analyzing my dreams, here are the things that stand out: flood, wedding and being chased or stalked.
Flood : the dream indicates that you are overwhelming others with your demands and strong opinion. Still another interpretation could be your desire to wipe everything clean and make a fresh new start. To see a gentle flood in your dream indicates that your worries over a certain matter will soon be swept away.
Wedding : If you rare getting married and have dreams of your pending wedding, then it highlights the stress of organizing a wedding. Conflicts over wedding details, tension with family and in-laws, fear of commietment and loss of independence may all cause wedding anxiety dreams.
Being Chased : To dream that you are being chased signifies that you are avoiding a situation that you do not think is conquerable.
Clearly this all comes down to my wedding stress (duh!) and work stress(double duh!). But isn’t it weird how your awake life can be interpreted into something completely different in your dream life? Also, about Donny and Marie, I’m not sure what that means but it’s just weird.
I had a dream George Clooney, Jon Hamm, and I were all in love and I won 2 oscars last night.
I’m jealous. I wan’t to be with George Clooney and Jon Ham, instead of a serial killer and a bishop.
HAHA I love this!!! && I’m loving your blog!! I remember my dreams, only on some nights.. maybe once or twice a week I have a really vived dream and can tell every detail, every other night I don’t even know if I dreamt anything
Thanks, Amanda! I don’t know what it is but my dreams are like this every night. I think I need to start keeping a journal about them all just so I can post about all the weird things
I thoroughly enjoyed this. I remember my dreams usually but not in that much detail.
I’m not sure which part of this dream was the most enjoyable…the fact that I remembered a persons specific name, or that Donny and Marie Osmond where hosting my reception
