Our wedding posts are getting a little face lift. Nothing major, just different titles and tag lines to make things easier to find. Especially since we are in the “6 months until we get married” mark, I’m sure there will be more wedding related posts.
We had our first official cake tasting this past Saturday. Everyone builds you up to expect lots of tasting, lots of sweets and full belly’s. That is exactly what happened. We liked the idea of combining a wedding cake and candy all in one. The idea of the Cakes and Sweets was formed.
The Beard has pushed back on the cake since day one. This man loves him some funfetti cake and icing.
I think he wants a funfetti wedding cake, with the matching icing. I am not joking when I say this out loud. He really wants it. I eased him into the cake tasting process in order to get his mind of the funfetti.
It was the four of us, including my parents, and we had our tasting at BonBonerie.
I could describe how delicious their treats are, but it wouldn’t do it justice. They have everything from cakes and cupcakes to pastries, pies and cookies. To add to their greatness, they have an adorable tea room on the back side of the building, the bakery and the cafe located on the front side. It was our first option when deciding on a cake.
And they didn’t let us down.
We choose from a list of cake options and were able to taste 5. From there the 2 flavors were chosen and cupcakes were added. This was the easiest consultation in the history of wedding planning, aside from our photographer and venue. In less than an hour we decided on our cake flavors, cake size and design, cupcake flavors and quantities as well as possible other treats. Who does that?!
I think we are wedding planning machines.
I wish I had a picture to show of the cake we decided on. It was literally a combination of 3 different cake displays we saw, all kind of merged together in this 3 tier cake. It only feeds 50 but we will have plenty of other options for people to choose from.
If dark chocolate cake with a chocolate cream, and/or white cake with a parisienne cream with fresh raspberry preserves aren’t your thing, you can choose from…
Black bottom and vanilla cupcakes
Lemon and chocolate mini cupcakes
AND an entire table full of different candies and other sweet treats.
I like to think with this assortment we will please just about everyone. Hopefully…
These cakes sound amazing! I love tea rooms.
I hope they taste as great as the samples! With the reputation they have I don’t have any doubt. Now I want to try out their tea room for a great saturday afternoon get together with friends.
